Finding HOME - A Self-Practice Creative Meditation Course

With everything that is happening this year, are you stressed? Worried? Feeling stuck or overwhelmed? You are not alone.

Unfortunately, focusing on the problem only makes it bigger. Having a daily creative meditation practice moves you purposely into a new experience of your day. In time, with practice, this helps to shift emotions and even changes your brain.

Finding HOME is a daily Pause Practice, offering creative prompts that connect you to your heart and these lighter feelings one short, daily practice at a time.

These creative prompts are recorded as short 2-3 minute mindful meditations and provided in written format.

This course is for writers and non-writers, creatives and non-creatives alike. Through this 11-day creative journey, you will find your HOME (and yourself) in a brand new way.

What is Finding HOME?

Your home is a part of you. The place you start and finish your day. And most likely, today, your home is a place you spend quite a lot of time.

Where you live, reflects you back to you. By mindfully and creatively exploring your home as the basis for this project, you will come to discover more yourself, and connect to yourself in new ways.

Finding HOME is an invitation to pause, even during your busiest days, to be quiet and mindful, to write poetically, or to photograph, your home.

The project prompts can be interpreted in two ways: in poetic words or in pictures. Or you might also choose to do both.

In this course, Denise will teach you simple and easy techniques to do this. Your creative process will become a mindful meditation and basis for deeper practice of listening within.

In Finding HOME, here’s what you get:

  • Day 1: A Day of Learning Technique: Denise will share you simple poetic writing techniques and easy photographic methods for seeing your home differently. These can be done by anyone - with or without creative writing or photographic experience.

  • Days 2-11: 10 days of home-inspired creative prompts

  • These prompts are provided in the classroom as written text AND as short recorded mindful meditations. (2-3 minutes) Plug in your headphones and listen. Pause. Be still. Then follow the invitation of the prompts to write, or photograph, or both…as you wish.

  • An online classroom with all teaching videos and written creative prompts.

  • Once you own the course, you will be able to login to access the class whenever you choose.

  • You don’t need anything special to do this course! You don’t even need a lot of time. Finding HOME is designed to be done in short 5-10 minute segments once, twice or three times through your day. (you choose)

  • All you need is your pen or laptop and your camera. Any kind of camera will do - even your phone.

  • As the course progresses, you will receive few added bonuses:

Finding HOME is the first in a series of Pause Practices. What is a Pause Practice?

Pause Practices are short daily practices designed to soothe your nervous system, creating a sense of inner connection, space and ease. These practices are designed to fit into even the busiest of days. They can take 3, 5 or 10 minutes, repeated once, twice or even three times daily. And most importantly, they can be done almost anywhere, by almost anyone.

Through the process of regularly Practicing Pause, you shift your nervous system from stress & worry into a place of listening. Through Pause, you change the experience of your days.

Uncertainty is everywhere right now. Heavy emotions of stress, anxiety, frustration, helplessness, hopelessness, fear and worry are emotions born out of uncertainty. They originate in your ego, or your mind. How can you shift out of you mind and your ego?

There are three easy things you can do: 

  1. Have a practice.

  2. Listen within.

  3. Be creative. Make art: Specifically, write poetically. 

How do these three things help? 

  1. A scheduled practice creates structure.  It gives you certainty & power in your day. 

  2. Listening within creates space & alignment. Listening connects you to your heart. You cannot listen and be in your ego. 

  3. Making art and being creative connects you to your authentic self. By choosing to write poetically, you have the added benefit of connecting to your words and your inner voice. You gain clarity & understanding and begin to dissolve any ego obstacles. This clarity will grow with practice.
